The spa was a lovely environment spotlessly clean with good facilities. I was welcomed by a lovely lady with Blonde hair I think she was the manager of the spar and was really helpful explained all about the facilities to me. I had got delayed in traffic and she rearranged all my appointments to later in the day. I had lunch booked for 1 pm Unfortunately I was left in the restaurant almost 40 minutes before I was attended to. They did apologise said they'd had cross communication. I had a back massage at 2 pm. I ate my food as quickly as possible and told them to leave my dessert as there was no time to eat it, they didn't charge me for my wine instead. The guy who served said he had been busy serving front of house with bar meals not a good enough answer. My back massage was one of the best massages I’ve ever had superb and relaxing. The pool and spa were full new babies and mothers they took almost every chair around the pool and wasn't the only person to comment on it. I love children and got 4 grandchildren myself but there’s a time and place. It was hard work in the changing room 2 prams and carries and taking over the seats to change nappies. I had booked the spar day with 2 treatments and lunch on your website saying indulge yourself in beautiful surroundings – relax and unwind? Don’t think so. Later that day I had a blow dry by a lovely lady and gave me lots of good tips on my hair extremely nice and gave me a superb head massage best part of the day. Not sure about the salutation spar maybe I was un lucky on that day. Kind regards Kathryn Woodward

I suggest that it would be good to keep the noise down to a minimum outside the consulting room, so that the customer can really unwind and relax. It did get a bit noisy. It would be nice to be offered a hot drink afterwards. However, I had a lovely massage and I will come again, though it is quite expensive for me, so it will be an occasional visit. I had to rate professional advice, but as I didn't get any I put one star. You need to change the survey - I didn't really need professional advice, but it looks like you've now got a bad rating.

A great facility for a holiday destination. Very welcoming and friendly staff. The interior decoration of the hotel was incomplete so we had to go past works and wet paint signs to get to the Spa The spa was great fun. Swimming pool, sauna, steam room, outside pool and jet spa all good. My daughter thought the temperature was on the cool side. I thought it was fine. Changing facilities lockers and gym all good. Therapists very friendly and very good. Therapy rooms lovely and comfy. A great respite on a rainy day. Minor criticism - the music was too loud for me and dreary rather than relaxing. It was on a loop that kept repeating all afternoon. Major Criticism - the cakes we were looking forward to all afternoon were DRY to the point where we couldn’t eat them. Shame. The response from staff was ‘ I will let the kitchen know’ - not ‘we will get you a nicer piece’ or ‘come again for tea and cake somwe can show you how well we can treat you.’ After all this is a pamper and a treat. Dry cakes aren’t.

A lovely, relaxing experience. Staff were friendly, helpful and professional. This was a treat for me whilst in the Lakes on a short break, but obviously not a regular experience.

My husband booked me a sleep massage as a birthday / Anniversary surprise. Having just completed a 8 mile hike around Wansfell Pike it was very much needed. On completion of the consultation form I specifically asked for my massage to be light to medium in pressure as i was looking forward to a nice relaxing treatment. The overall treatment was lovely with the use of Clarins products. My masseuse was very knowledgeable with regards to the products being used, I loved the warm water pillow for your feet and calves and the ambience of the treatment room. The overall massage was lovely and likewise was the facial. Unfortunately, I had to ask my masseuse on two occasions to ease the pressure, in the end I had to inform her that she wasn't going to remove the knots in my shoulders with one massage, these would need breaking down slowly over time. The pressure became quite painful so much so I am now applying anti-inflammatory gel to me shoulders. I am personally qualified in massage so understand that on the discovery of tight muscles it's our job to try and release the knots but I also believe the client should be listened to, as it is them who are paying for the treatment and sadly I feel my consultation form wasn't adhered to nor was I asked at any time during the massage if the pressure was acceptable. Having said the above my husband had a really enjoyable and relaxing massage so if we were to go again I would verbally instruct my masseuse before the treatment starts with regards to the pressure.
