A few times now I have given you another go but keep being disappointed. Hair washing was really disappointing, despite me saying how much I enjoy it - quick, certainly not covering the back of hair or scrubbing ... Had to ask to continue rinsi as could feel soap left in .. Got miss sold a hair treatment (£10!!!) that took two mins and most certainly wasn't a head massage. No hand massage. And was a complete waste of money. Hair still needs more off the back as it's uneven ... However I came back in last time and it was to an improvement so I guess not worth it!!! Really disappointed as I really like the place and ambience.

I have have been visiting Rye Retreat for some years now and have felt like I have walked into a different world, very calm and have always felt special with my treatments. In between treatments being offered a hand and arm massage and either at the beginning or end refreshments. Today I had three treatments on my eyes ( which I can't fault) but I was finished within half an hour. With no refreshments or massage offered. It all seemed quick and not special. My sisters treated me to this visit for my birthday. I was disappointed and did not come out as I usually do feeling relaxed and special. I want to repeat my assistant did a good job and I have no complaints regarding her.

A little disappointed as I felt the experience was rushed. I was really looking forward to a 45 minute Green Science facial for £55 which was bought for me by my children for Mother's Day. I was told to make my own way down to the treatment rooms, which is fine, normally I would have been met by my designated therapist which is a much more personalised service. I sat down on the couch and waited for ten minutes whilst the therapist was still seeing to her previous client. When she did appear she was busy rushing around and couldn't even make eye contact to say hello. Then when she addressed me she asked whether I was the facial instead of knowing who I was and addressing me by my first name. Again little personalised touches which would make for a better 'spa' experience. The facial itself I was told that because it was only for 45 minutes she would try to fit in as much as she could. This made the experience feel very rushed and not particularly relaxing :( It did feel very clinical and military precise. The therapist was making quite a bit of noise preparing solutions etc and throughout the entire treatment her stomach was growling. Products all very nice but application of them and execution of them very disappointing for what I was hoping would be a relaxing treat bought for me by my children :( £55 is a lot on money and when you don't have treats often you expect a better level of service :(

I enjoyed getting the head massage and the washing of my hair, the lady who did that was wonderful, very chatty and friendly. However, the hair cut itself was terrible the lady who did it barely said two words to me and actually cut it the opposite to what I had asked for. I ended up going back to my usual hairdressers 3 days later for them to put it right.

Sadly there was confusion upon booking the appointment. I am a regular customer, for over 2 years, so I really am saying this to try and help with future bookings at the retreat. There was clearly a training need for the member of staff who handled the initial booking as firstly I was told the appointment was at 2pm however I later received a call from another member of staff who then informed me that the appointment was booked incorrectly with the facial scheduled after the wash, cut and blow dry which was obviously not ideal and it was also only possible at 2.30pm. If I had received this message earlier I would have cancelled and rearranged the appointment as I was already pushed for time. However I don’t drive and I had already been dropped off in Rye by the time I received this call. This call was received just before the appointment time I had been told, 2pm. Further to this confusion when I arrived at the salon at 2.30pm I was then told that the appointment had been altered successfully so that the facial could be done prior to the haircut. I then waited for around 10 minutes until another member of staff came to tell me this had actually been communicated in error and was not possible. I love my visits to Rye Retreat as I have a very intense job and rarely get time to look after myself but always choose the retreat when I do have time. I really hope this survey response is helpful and I hope to return soon.

I have been coming to the Rye Retreat for the past couple of years and have massages or facials every 6-8 weeks or so. I love the spa experience you create and your staff are all very friendly but the last few treatments I have had I've felt were really disappointing for the price. I have been allocated junior members of staff, some who are still training at college, which when paying £90-£120 I feel does not reflect the quality of an Aveda spa or the price. I'm certainly not asking for a refund or would never go as far to leave a bad review, but felt my honest feedback may help support some positive change - as at current I would now feel I'd want to look elsewhere for treatments.
