I love the Rye Retreat and usually receive great service. However, this is the second time in a row I have been in and not been offered a hand massage - which is an added perk. Today was particularly noticeable as an employee was having her hair done next to me and was given one...whilst I was sitting there without being offered! I have to say that paying customers should take priority. Otherwise, the service was great.

My daughter and I always come to this salon for pedicures as we can get them done together, although I did prefer the upstairs area and relaxer stress-less chairs that we used to love. The area downstairs was right outside a treatment room, with too many staff going in and out, so it wasn't as relaxing as usual.

The retreat is the most gorgeous space and the staff are always lovely, but coming from London, I find the prices extortionate by comparison. I don't understand why a blow dry is at least double what I would pay in a high standard salon in London, ditto a manicure. I would like to use the retreat more, but I refuse to pay such high prices!

While the visual atmosphere of Rye Retreat feels comfortable, relaxing and premium, the aural environment upstairs does not. The blaring pop music does not convey a relaxing premium feel. While having a very relaxing head and shoulder massage before my haircut I was struck by the paradoxically unrelaxing music. It may keep the spirits of the staff up but doesn’t fit your brand image or customer experience. I would contrast it with the environmental meant downstairs when I’ve had a treatment which had very appropriate music. I’m not suggesting the same in the salon, but I do strongly recommend that you look at your playlist and amend it to something that feels more exclusive and fitting for the Rye Retreat.
