My first curly haircut and booked into Nuala Morey as transformations on Instagram looked amazing! Also had friends who said the experience was well worth the money. Haircut was good, had booked for a graduate stylist and only on paying was informed I’d had a stylist. I was kindly allowed to pay the price of a graduate stylist. I appreciate during the COVID restrictions the salon experience wasn’t going to be anywhere near as relaxing or special but when I arrived, after filling out the form and having my temperature taken, I was left for ten to 15 minutes-not told where to put my coat or how long the stylist would be-little things but things that make going to a salon more enjoyable experience especially when you’re paying higher end prices. Unfortunately wouldn’t book again as have an equally good haircut (although products and head massage was no where near as good!) at super cuts for a fraction of the price and experience was comparable.

This was my second time visiting Nuala Morey. The first time was wonderful, I was so pleased to have found a hairdressers that could properly manage my curly hair, which was coloured beautifully and left feeling so so soft with great curls all round. I was therefore so excited to return. Sadly I was 5 minutes late so didn’t get the usual massage at the start. No bother! I had a new stylist this time who made up a colour which was then applied for a long time while she cut someone else’s hair. It was also all over my forehead which later left a mark. My hair was washed with cold water which she sprayed all down the back of my neck getting my clothes soaked, which was unpleasant and stayed wet all day. Not nice in cold winter! After the wash, my hair was styled by the apprentice. She applied loads of product so my hair was slick with gel. Because of this it took ages to dry and then did not curl at all. She seemed confused and I explained this to her and the other stylist who came to help. My hair felt so thick and awful with product, and looked terrible! To their credit, they rewashed me. Again with cold water. This time it was very rushed and it didn’t feel nice. When they styled it this time, by way of compensating from before they didn’t use much product, and tried to curl hair that was so dry the hairbrush was sticking through it. Again, my hair did not look good, and to make matters worse the stylish dragged her fingers through my dried hair, pulling out curls and just making it frizzy! It was not soft and smooth at all. She then tried to say that it was my curl type that was the issue, suggesting they were already straight (this is true for only one tiny section of my hair). I’m so disappointed to say my hair looked better when I came in than when I left. I was so upset my sister came to meet me with a hairband to tie it up. What a waste of money and 3.5 hours!! I won’t be back and this is a place I will no longer recommend to others. Hopefully your stylists can learn that not all curls should be handled the same!

I was provided with a coffee on arrival. Unfortunately I don't like the taste of UHT milk, so not very pleasant. Very busy salon. Staff were relatively friendly. I discussed my requirements requesting a cut and color. I had expressed a preference for a light color to be used in part of my hair to seamlessly blend blonde already present in my hair but this was ignored. I was in the salon for five hours and despite asking for water on several occasions this was ignored, so gave up. I was severely dehydrated when I left the salon and extremely light headed, which was not good for the drive home. The junior who styled my hair was quite rough at times tugging hard on my scalp - which I don't think is good as when hair is wet it's meant to be more fragile. I paid nearly £400, which did also include a couple of products, so as you can appreciate the full experience wasn't what I expected at all. I can actually say though I am happy with the cut. I must remind myself that glossy Instagram pictures, don't give you the journey.

Overall I was quite disappointed with my experience. When I arrived (no earlier than stated on the document sent prior) I was standing and waiting for a receptionist for quite a long time. One of the stylists had to shout for her. Once my appointment got started I was quite excited and hopeful. My stylist had lots of knowledge and was really friendly and chatty however I thought I was booked in for a colour but that hadn’t gone through on the system so due to the nature of the cut I’m left with quite random bits of blonde from a previous cut/colour. My stylist then asked me how I felt about the length and I said I didn’t want to loose too much which I was told was absolutely fine and it didn’t need to be short for it to curl. The day after the appointment I’m really quite disappointed about the cut. The top layer is really short and bulky and there is hardly any graduation between that and the bottom so it sort of looks a bit like a mullet. The end of my appointment felt very rushed and as if the stylist wasn’t happy with the end result she created.
