As usual, I was treated like a valuable and long standing client by the receptionists but when I reached the salon floor there was no one at the desk. Eventually, a young girl came across and told me to take a seat. It was a very cold day but she did not offer me a drink. My stylist was running slightly late but that wasn't a problem. My stylist then walked me across to the relevant chair and we chatted about what I wanted today. The same apprentice from earlier then came to gown me up. She almost threw the towels round me and then asked, in a very brusque manner 'Do you want a drink?'. I said yes and she made me a coffee. At every stage she seemed desperate to return to the storage room in the corner to continue her conversation with the other two apprentices. She was later asked to rinse the colour off my hair and shampoo me. She never told me what she was doing or asked if the water was a suitable temperature. At one point the water ran cold and she never even commented. I have never had this experience in the past so hopefully this is a 'one off' but a group of girls hanging about chatting in the corner of the salon is not giving a professional impression and, let's face it, it's an expensive salon so I expect to be treated to a bit of luxury not as an interruption to their chats.
