My other half booked the hair cuts for both of us. Over the phone he was given an assessment of the cost for my hair cut to be $97. I finished first so I left him to pay for both of us. When the bill came through he was told the cost of my haircut was $128; which he paid and then IM'd me whether he should query. I IM'd back that he should and then he was told my haircut should have been $97; and a credit has been applied for my next visit. I like the way my hair has been cut, but there is nothing outstanding about it; the cost at $97 is beginning to get up there, let alone $128. I'm am not particularly impressed with the way this transaction was undertaken and, although, I will get my haircut with you next time to use up the credit, in the meantime I will start looking at other salons in the area. There appears to be an abundance of places around Fitzroy.

Response from Heading Out

Dear Madam, I am sorry to hear your experience with us was dampened by a miscommunication at our reception area. It is not our usual practice to give formal quotes over the phone. We offer a formal quote once you have had a consultation with the hairdresser you have been booked. This is done as the cost of services can vary depending on who your services are with, and how the how long or thick your hair is, if want just a trim or a total restyle. The quote is given at the start of your service so if their is any queries to be made they can be addressed straight away. I hope that your next visit with us will be a much more enjoyable experience for you and consider continuing coming to our salon in the future.

Decor needs to be more desireable for the prices charged. Was not happy with blowdry, was a littled dated.

Response from Heading Out

Thank you for your feedback. In regards to our decor needing to be more desirable we agree with you 100% which is why the Fitzroy salon is having a major renovation this year. I am sorry to hear you were 100% happy with your blowave. If you would like to email us at fitzroy@headingout.com.au, who you had perform the service we can provide them with your feedback as we are constantly striving to improve and deliver the best service possible to our clients.

I've been coming to Heading Out almost monthly for over 10 years. I return to the salon because I trust the service and greatly respect the owner. Today I had the worst haircut of my life. My hair was layered and thinned out to a point where I looked at the long strands of hair on the floor and felt sick. While I was walking to the car afterwards I was horrified to find that when I brushed my hair whole clumps and strands were coming out due to the way the stylist cut my hair. I was told that she was going to give me more volume and agreed to subtle long layers. I had initially said "no" to a hair cut but my stylist insisted and regrettably talked me into it. I returned to the salon and the owner was fortunately able to resurrect my hair a little but the result is hair that is extremely short for my liking. My hair still feels thinned out. I've learned not to book according to time preference with any old stylist. Instead I'll only book with the owner as I trust her. I will continue to support Heading Out but I felt it important to communicate my extreme disappointment on this occasion. All I can do is to wait for my hair to grow back but I fear that the short layering will take forever for my hair to feel "normal" again.

Response from Heading Out

Hi Catherine, Thank-you for taking the time to send us this e-mail, and also thank-you for your continued loyalty over the years. Any and all feedback, weather positive or constructive is always greatly appreciated, and encouraged as this can only build growth as a person, and as a salon. At Heading Out, we always strive to achieve the highest of standards, and unfortunately, this has not happened for you this time. For this, we apologise and look forward to looking after you with the care trust you know us for. Heading Out Team.

Maybe not go between clients as you lose focus on what you were doing and was kinda rushed. My hair could have turns out a bit better as it was quiet rushed.

Over $100 dollars to cut the hair of a three year-old is ridiculously expensive (where else in Melbourne would they charge that for 35 minutes in the chair), especially when you can get the same cut with the same person on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday for $30. Problem is you have to read the fine print because they won't tell you you are being charged three times the week day amount. Its a case of buyer beware!!! And yes, it doesn't matter a hoot that you have been a loyal customer for 10 years.

Response from Heading Out

Thank you for your feed back. As a loyal client of Heading Out's you would know that Heading Out has a company policy to provide a quote to all clients before any service is started. We have this policy so that our clients are aware of the cost of their services from the start so we can work within their budget. The quote is a print out that is handed to the client so they don't have to read the fine print. We try to keep our pricing as transparent as possible which is why we have a price list available on our website with our most common services and terms of our pricing. We also try to inform all clients that are booking in children's hair cuts over the phone that the cost is full price Thursday to Sunday but we offer discounted rates Monday to Wednesday before 5pm. However if reception is not told the age of a child then we can only assume that they are in their teens or an adult. We also have a lot of clients that do pay full price at the end of the week and weekend as they are unable to bring their children in at another time. Also the date that you had visited the salon was Anzac Day so being a public holiday there was also a surcharge which we made aware to our clients at the time of booking.
