I have been going to Hair Body & Soul for nearly 12 months. The premises are lovely, the staff are friendly and I quite enjoy the qaba products, which is why I was particularly disappointed when I began having issues with my hair colour. I wanted to go dark over winter, and though I expressed I didn’t want red hair, my hair ended up a reddy brown. After a few attempts in the following months to remove the warmth, I decided I wanted to go back to blonde for summer. I was given highlights that came out a straw yellow colour which looked terrible and stripy against my reddy brown hair. Though I was unhappy, I accepted it, paid $265 and went home. After getting a few second opinions I realised my hair really did look terrible (it wasn’t just me being difficult, I looked like a tiger) so I called the salon and they offered to fix it for me that evening – to their credit. That night they applied a toner to get rid of the warmth and reduce the intensity of the yellow. As my hair was being blow dried, I realised it was no longer yellow, it was now blue. I pointed that out to my hairdresser but I was assured the blue would come out after 1 wash. 2 washes (with the recommended qaba products) later, my hair was still a very visible shade of blue. I was mortified. At this stage I had lost all confidence and went to another hairdresser to fix what they were obviously unable to, costing me a further $200. I really wanted to love Hair Body & Soul but after the financial and emotional cost of having my hair coloured blue, I would find it very difficult recommending them to a friend.
