I love coming here for hair treatments, because everyone is truly wonderful and professional and excellent at what they do, but I really, really struggle with the intense fluorescent lighting. Please understand that this type of lighting wasn't normal or necessary even a few years ago, and that it is really difficult neurologically for autistic and otherwise neurodivergent and/or elderly people. It is actually physically painful to endure this light in a situation where one cannot wear eye protection. It is certainly possible to cut hair without this type of lighting, and I strongly urge you, from a disability standpoint, to come up with an alternative solution. My hairdresser offered me a different seat, without my having to ask, perhaps because she sensed my discomfort, and it was nominally better, but still very uncomfortable, because the mirrors reflect from every angle. I cannot stress how bad this light is. I try to come to the salon on sunny days, to mitigate the effect of the lights, but it's not enough, and it's unpredictable with Oxford weather.
