This was the first time that I had had my haircut at Austen Thomson. I had been to my previous hairdresser for over 20 years but had felt let down by the last few haircuts there so I decided to try a new salon which was also in a handier location as I pass it on my way to and from work. I opted to go with Murray and was not disappointed - I explained that I had fine, flyaway, wavy hair which had been breaking recently due to over colouring by myself at home ( I have a fair amount of grey which I dye every 4 weeks as I hate the roots showing) . I showed him some pictures of styles that I liked and he explained how he could adapt them to make them work on my particular hair. He also gave some suggestions for alternative hair colours that would make the root regrowth look less noticeable ( I was only getting a haircut at this time but the extra information was handy) He also explained the products he was using and made recommendations for my hair but was not pushy to try and sell me them. When he dried my hair he gave me several tips for drying that would make my hair lie better in particular my fringe which never seems lo lie well. All in all it was a very enjoyable experience and well worth the money as my hair has not looked this good in a long time. Usually it only looks good on the day the hairdresser does it but I have managed to replicate it myself and have had many compliments. All of the staff were extremely friendly and the head massage with the shampoo was excellent. The online booking system made the whole experience very straight forward. I will be back!
