It all started on 6th April 1966, England won the cup final the day after I left school to begin my career as a hairstylist, which was all I had dreamed of throughout my childhood. My apprenticeship began at Vicki Hair Fashions in Mansfield where I worked up until giving birth to my daughter Sallyanne in 1971.
After a short period of working mobile, yes one of the first mobile hairdressers, I opened my first Salon in 1973 in Stanton Hill; Sutton in Ashfield. The salon was a starting block. I then moved further into town opening Hers ‘n’ Sirs on Outram Street where I stayed until 1994.
We had already opened a second Salon in Kirkby in Ashfield, Studio 5ive run then by my daughter Sallyanne who started her Hairdressing and Beauty career in 1987. Studio 5ive was opened in 1990 formally a Chemist.On the expiration of the lease at Hers ‘n' Sirs Outram Street we closed the Salon and moved all staff to Kirkby in Ashfield to Studio 5ive,
joining force’s with my daughter Sallyanne, as business partners.We have worked together to build our reputation and commitment to delivering a high standard of craft design and creativity. We are equally committed to the highest standard of employment practice, and are a recognised city & guilds accredited training centre.
