The salon at 53 opened in May 2013. Our salon is made up of 7 staff members where between us all are able to carry out all aspects of hairdressing. 


Our salon promises to deliver a top quality service and pride ourselves on having a very loyal and regular clientele ranging in all ages.


We only employ fully qualified hairdressers and indentured apprentices who will use top quality products supported by continuous education to achieve excellent results.


Our prices are based on the time we allow for each appointment and the experience of each individual stylist. We offer appointments with junior, senior and specialist sylists.


We understand at The salon at 53 that every individual has a specific need, so we are happy to provide and welcome each client  to a FREE  in depth consultation before making any appointment to discuss their needs and budget, in doing so it provides us with the opportunity to achieve and deliver your desired  results.

I am very pleased with all the safety ppe precautions taken at The Salon@53. Everything about my visit was excellent. The only thing that I was slightly unhappy about was the £5 surcharge for ppe and sanitiser. It seems a large amount to pay when i provided my own mask and used their hand sanitiser once.

Thank you for your feedback upon visiting THE SALON AT 53.I am delighted to hear that you are satisfied with your hair. In regards to the "temporary Covid fee" of £5, i think there has been a misunderstanding? This fee is NOT used to cover the PPE that is being used. This fee is used to cover the 15 minutes of time that we allow after EACH client to clean down and sanitize the work station and sterilize ALL equipment that has been used upon your hair ready for the next customer, for which time we are unable to do additional paying customers. (This time can amount to 6-7 hours per day over all stylists purely used for cleaning, in a salon which is only able to use every other chair, so is only occupying 50% of its normal capacity) Please appreciate that by using this method, this allows us to open in a safe and secure manner, keeping yourselves (the clients) safe and its staff and in line with Government requirements. We are SO lucky to have The Salon at 53 here in Swanage. The staff are amazingly friendly and professional in every way. Their collective hairdressing skills are second to none and I have always found them attentive and willing to please. They have followed the Covid 19 guidelines for businesses to the letter and everything is working well in their salon to protect themselves and their clients. I would recommend them highly!!!!! This was my first visit to The Salon at 53 but definately not my last. Everyone was very professional and I felt very welcome and safe during my visit. My stylist, Jasmine, was very welcoming, attentive and styled my hair beautifully.
